Barn Girl Problems
For everyone who works at a barn or just loves to be there. For people who love riding horses and who just love horses in general. For those of us who get annoyed like crazy by tiny things others do around horses or those carefree souls. We're here for you. Feel free to ask for advice or to submit your problems or quirks or things you find only equestrians understand in our ask.
Anonymous asked: About the saddle thing that shapes after the horse. They exist, only they dont 'set' since the horses muscles always changes and stuff. I have no idea what its called in english, but google "bomlös sadel" and you'll see it. they're great

Answer:

^^^That sounds fantastic!

1nkblots asked: For the anon looking for horse-related inventions: a while back, I saw a proposal for developing holographic, soft, or in some other way "safe" jumps. There was also an idea floating around in the discussion about boots that would give the horse a light "knock" if they "hit" the jump, so that a lot of the danger was removed, but the horse would still get immediate sensory feedback like they would get from a real jump. I always thought it was a cool - if maybe overly ambitious - idea.

Answer:

^^^Here’s another one!

long-spot-to-freedom asked: How about a saddle that you put on the horse and it molds perfectly to fit and 'sets.'

Answer:

^^^ Here’s an idea that would be great!

Anonymous asked: For my economics class I have to come up with a product that's not been invented yet. Is there any product in the horse world that's not been invented that is needed?

Answer:

Wow that sounds like fun! Ummm…I can’t think of anything off the top of my head (an automatic saddler maybe…) but I’m sure that the rest of you have some ideas so send those in! :D

Anonymous asked: I know this is really far back but to the self conscious rider: I am 5 foot and 130 pounds. Not only am I heavier than you I'm also shorter and I ride. If anyone tells you you're too short or fat get on your horse and show them your horse's better side ;)

Answer:

^^^ THIS RIGHT HERE!!! This is truth!!

I don’t have a problem what so ever with wanting a horse to have good conformation, in fact it’s an important thing to look for when buying a horse. What I don’t like is when people blatantly point out the conformation flaws of your horse to you. We’ve had a couple come to our barn and do that, but the thing is, we don’t buy our horses for how nice they look, we buy them for how well they’ll do kids to ride and enjoy. Everyone knows that they’re horse isn’t perfect, so I just don’t see the need to point it out to them unless they ask you to… Sorry for the mini rant :)

(For those of you, like me, who didn’t know what a “bobo” was here’s a definition: A person who participates in elite equestrian competitions who clearly does not have the knowledge, horsepower, and or skill to do so. Their horses will appear to be unkept and will be of low quality. They also will tend to lean towards equipment of the florescent and plastic persuasion (which is generally frowned upon in this conservative natured sport). They also will enter classes which are above and beyond their skill level which inevitably leads to a disastrous performance. A Bobo is generally oblivious to the aforementioned and is usually very high on themselves and their horses. Thus, they tend to cause a disturbance in the warm up areas due to their inflated egos. Also known as a “Rubber Booter" due to their infatuation with plastic equipment.
